Socializing Your Frenchie
How to raise a confident, friendly Frenchie, with our tips, dos and don'ts.
Why it matters
Start Early
French Bulldogs are friendly and sociable, but without proper socialization they can become overwhelming. The first few months are the most important stage of a dog's development and shape their behaviour for life.
A well-socialized Frenchie
Is a good companion for you and for others, and calm around their surroundings.
A poorly socialized Frenchie
May become fearful or aggressive, especially with strangers and other dogs. Older dogs take much longer to socialize.

Step by step
Socialization Tips
- 01
Start at home
Let your new puppy settle in with the household before going out.
- 02
Introduce friends
Once your puppy is comfortable, invite family friends, and later ask them to bring their dogs.
- 03
Take car rides
Car rides get them used to travel. Choose quiet places over crowded malls, and use a safety harness on longer trips.
- 04
Visit new places
Start with walks in quiet areas, keep a firm grip on the leash, and slowly move to busier places.
- 05
Never overwhelm
Avoid concerts and crowded streets. Too much can cause fear and set socialization back.
- 06
Read their body language
Yawning can mean your puppy needs a break. The goal is for them to enjoy it.
- 07
Reward every success
Reward right away to reinforce good behaviour, and only for real achievements.

The Don'ts

Rush it
